Professional Matters

When it comes to planning your event you already know that choosing the right technical partner is a must. Get it wrong and it could mean game over, however, get it right and the event can be a roaring success.

This is where Wattech helps because we know that Professional Matters and this years festival season proves it. We've pushed more boundaries, and provided a full range of services from supplying engineers to support other production companies to full sound, lighting, visual, staging and power solutions to a wide range of events through out Wales and the West.

It hasn't just been festivals either, with conferences and award ceremonies also utilising our range of services.

One of those requiring a professional sound solution was Arriva Trains Wales. Celebrating 150 year of the heart of Wales line was a must and Wattech were asked to supply a powerful but discreet system.

The perfect solution was one of our JBL PRX 710 systems with a Soundcraft EPM12 Mixer. Utilising a pair of our stage condenser microphones for boosting Morriston Orpheus Choir over the running train engines, and a lectern condenser and our Global Truss Lectern, Engineer Nathan was successful in providing a professional and successful solution.

Also requiring a professional solution was Swansea Councils Planning Department for their conferences. This called for a similar strategy but required additional conference mics. A further 12 conference mics were purchased with individual muting facilities to enable speakers to be heard but to also confer discreetly. Over 20 sessions were carried out over several months in various rooms meaning the system needed to be fairly portable as well as easy to setup and operate by staff.

As well as the conferences and awards Wattech have also provided equipment and support to a wide range of festivals and music events.

One of the festivals was at a school in Worcester. This event was held in memory of a student who had passed away. The event called LuisFest 2018 was a great success with students and other bands taking to the stage. Wattech were asked to provide a professional but respectful solution for Sound, Lighting, Staging and Power. A 20kva generator, with 16A - 13A power distribution for stage, 32A distribution for F.O.H system, 60cm high 4x4m stage, 10K JBL Sound System, Lighting and a 4 person crew were provided.

Another event we have worked on this season is a festival aimed at giving people with disabilities a chance to experience a festival in a controlled environment.

The one day event consisted of 2 stages one indoors and one outside on a grassed area. Wattech were tasked with providing full solution with power distribution, sound & lighting all being required on both stages.

For stage one (the main outdoor stage) a 20kva generator, stage, inflatable dome, JBL FOH system with one of our Behringer X32 mixing desks and a lighting system were utilised.

On stage 2 we supplied a general stage lighting wash with a JBL PRX system with a Behringer X32 compact at control.

Both stages had professional engineers on both sound and lighting whilst Nathan took on the role of Event Technical Manager liaising with bands, engineers and event organisers and staff. The whole event run seamlessly and was a massive success.

We have since attended another event organised by the client and planning for 2019 has already started with the event growing to 2 days.

Our team of professionals have also supported other production companies with sound and engineer requirements.

One of our favourite jobs was the Rockabilly Festival in Porthcawl where we supplied an Engineer and some microphones. The event was a great success with many people and acts referring to the sound as being the best they've had.
